Growth Strategy Plus aims for savings

Hansel’s Board of Directors renewed the growth strategy that was launched in 2023 as the company’s owners set a new growth target that was more in line with the savings measures outlined in the Government Programme. By increasing the volume of public procurement through Hansel, the benefits of centralised procurement can be realised in the form of savings.

Dubbed Growth Strategy Plus, the renewed strategy aims to increase the use of joint procurement by EUR 1 billion by 2028. The desired growth has been achieved well: EUR 269 million in 2023 and EUR 125 million in 2024. The pace of growth slowed down slightly in 2024 due to savings realised in public administration. The growth expectations for the coming years are high, and the achievement of these targets will require continuous development of the joint procurement offering – new procurement procedures for healthcare and social welfare services will be launched, for example.

“The Growth Strategy Plus vision is to be our customers’ preferred procurement partner, and the strategy is based on the added value we offer them.”

The Growth Strategy Plus vision is to be the preferred procurement partner for our customers, and the strategy is based on the added value we offer them. Our operations must be ethical and efficient, while providing an excellent service experience. Sustainability will continue to be one of our strengths – during this strategy period, we will focus in particular on the monitoring of sustainability requirements and on related communications. In terms of the personnel, our ambition is “expertise, appreciation, discussion and fun”.

Hansel does not aim to make a profit, and in line with the owners’ ambition, service fees will be further lowered in the long term as joint procurement volumes increase. The reduction in service fees will correspondingly reduce the service and product prices customers pay, which means taxpayers will also benefit indirectly. Part of the income will be invested in the company through various development projects. One of the development focus areas is making procurement as easy as possible for our customers. We will continue to recruit some new procurement specialists in the coming years, although AI and investments in automation will contribute to the elimination of routine tasks.
